Garrick is best known for his research on monetary and distributed systems innovation, particularly cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. 

Garrick was ranked as one of the 100 most influential economists in the UK & Ireland. He is regularly invited to share his research and perspective with public sector institutions, including the CIA, US Army and Naval War Colleges, Federal Reserve, Bank of England, and the Financial Stability Board, as well as media, including the BBC, CNBC, FT, WSJ, and NPR. Garrick is frequently sought as a speaker.

Notable cryptocurrency and blockchain research publications include the "2017 Global Cryptocurrency Benchmarking Study" (University of Cambridge) and the "2017 Global Blockchain Benchmarking Study" (University of Cambridge). He also created and published the CoinDesk "State of Bitcoin" and "State of Blockchain" reports from 2013-2016. Garrick's other research interests include sovereign debt, financial crises, financial repression and prudential regulation, black markets, and systemic risk. He completed his PhD in economic history at the London School of Economics under the supervision of professors Albrecht Ritschl and Niall Ferguson.

Garrick's teaching includes developing the UK's first university taught class on blockchain technology at the University of Cambridge, and teaching on numerous executive education programs and other classes for Cambridge, Oxford, Columbia, Northwestern, and the London School of Economics.

Garrick has worked for 15+ years in the private sector with both start-ups like Blockchain and Mosaic and established companies such as Bank of America, The Home Depot, IDG, and Allianz. Garrick’s technology experience includes co-founding a San Francisco-based new venture incubator and IT strategy consulting for multinationals. Garrick has served on the boards of directors of both publicly traded and private companies, and he has worked or consulted in a wide range of industries, including banking, technology, online media, specialty finance, insurance, business services, retail, non-profit, education, and government.

Garrick’s volunteer work includes serving as a Big City Mountaineers guide for at-risk urban teens on backcountry excursions in the Sierra Nevada. He also was a founding member of the record-setting PolarVision expedition, which raised funds and awareness for sight-related charities.

Pavol Rusnák, otherwise known as “Stick,” is Co-Founder, CTO, core developer and cryptographer of SatoshiLabs, where he is leading the development of software and hardware projects such as TREZOR, the first hardware wallet. Along with his regular work, he is also interested in artificial intelligence and cognitive science in general. In his spare time he is working on award-winning, hi-tech, experimental, new media interactive installations.

Pavol graduated from Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, majoring in Database Systems, with particular emphasis on distributed systems. He is a highly regarded security expert and privacy activist and has been invited to speak at significant technology-oriented events such as Chaos Communication Congress, FOSDEM or LinuxTag. In the past, he also served as a board member of the openSUSE Project and as a three-time mentor/administrator for the Google Summer of Code.

Pavol Rusnak

Andrew Poelstra is a Mathematician at Blockstream. He has dabbled in software development for the last twenty years, in open-source cryptography for ten.

He became involved in Bitcoin in late 2011, and joined Blockstream cofounders Greg Maxwell and Pieter Wuille in developing the high-performance cryptography library libsecp256k1.

His latest major project has been Mimble Wimble which is described as a blockchain design with no script support and blinded amounts. Like proverbial black holes, transaction outputs have no hair. This simplicity allows aggressive compaction and aggregation, resulting in a blockchain with much better scalability than any other design to date.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Simon Fraser University. While completing his Masters of Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, he wrote and co-wrote several papers about Bitcoin, practical cryptography and mathematics.

Andrew’s other interests include jazz piano, cycling and exploring the world. He hopes one day that blockchains will enable private and censorship-free transactions for all people regardless of their political environment.

Before starting Parity, I was responsible for IT security and partner integration within the Ethereum Foundation around the launch of the public blockchain in 2015. I am also a co-founder of Project Provenance Ltd, a London based start-up that employs blockchain technology to make supply chains more transparent. I advise various projects that use blockchain technology, such as Energy start-up Grid Singularity. 

Originally trained as a Mathematician and hold a PhD in Applied Mathematics, I started my early professional career as an associate for management consultancy McKinsey.

Trent McConaghy has 20 years of deep technology experience with a focus on machine learning, data visualization and user experience. He was a researcher at the Canadian Department of Defense and in 1999, he co-founded Analog Design Automation Inc. and was its CTO until its acquisition by Synopsys Inc. In 2004, he co-founded Solido Design Automation Inc., once again in the role of CTO.

Trent has written two critically acclaimed books on machine learning, creativity and circuit design and has authored or co-authored more than 40 papers and patents.

Trent has a PhD in Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium and Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan where he won awards for the top PhD thesis and top undergraduate thesis.
