Cory Klippsten provides investment and advising to top tech startups, public companies and funds. Currently he is an active advisor to Inklocker, SportsMe, Riot Blockchain and Adaptive Capital, and the founder of GiveBitcoin.io. As an advisor he has supported more than $250M of fundraising since 2016, and as an angel has funded 20+ early stage startups. Before VC, Klippsten worked for Google, McKinsey, Microsoft and Morgan Stanley, and earned an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago. He grew up in SF and Seattle, split 15 years between NYC and Chicago, and now lives in LA with his wife and daughters. His hobbies include Bitcoin, history and travel (Istanbul and Barcelona are favorites).

Adam Ficsor, nopara73, Co-founder of Wasabi Wallet.

To celebrate the start of 2019 and the 10-year anniversary of Bitcoin’s genesis block during Bitcoin Wednesday on 2 January, 2019, the CTO of zkSNACKS, Adam Ficsor, who works under the alias nopara73, will talk about privacy in Bitcoin and his company’s flagship product, the privacy-oriented Wasabi Wallet.  Wasabi is a free and open source Bitcoin wallet that has integrated Tor, CoinJoin and coin control features.

Adam will give a demo of Wasabi and talk about the basic tech used to create the product.  He will explain the justification behind many of his choices (Bitcoin, .Net Core, Avalonia, Desktop vs Mobile, Tor) and tell a personal story about each item.  He will also briefly show and describe the basic properties of his wallet compared to other wallets, and then focus in on its privacy features, including blockchain analysis, coin control and Chaumian CoinJoin.  Finally, he will cover some future improvement ideas:

Confidential Transations, which he describes as “moon tech”, something that is unlikely to make its way into Bitcoin due to consensus issues;
Schnorr Signatures;
Unequal Input Mixing;
Mixing to Self vs. Mixing to Others;
JoinMarket;
Pay to EndPoint; and
Extending the scope of privacy through built-in wallet block explorer and P2P encrypted messaging for address transfer.
Despite the complexity of some of his topics, Adam is able to make technical explanations clear and simple.

Apart from his role as co-founder and CTO of zkSNACKS, Adam is an accomplished developer and among the most active Github contributors in the sector.  For the past 3 years he has worked tirelessly to improve the privacy of Bitcoin.  He has written over 100 articles on privacy and has participated in numerous workshops and conferences on privacy. Adam also designed ZeroLink, the Bitcoin fungibility framework which detailed the Chaumian CoinJoin Bitcoin mixing technique and participated in the creation of the Pay to EndPoint scheme.   He created the Tor library for .NET Core, worked on the early development of the Stratis: Breeze wallet, and created and deployed HiddenWallet, the full block downloading SPV wallet on Bitcoin’s mainnet.  He is a maintainer of NTumbleBit, which is an anonymity protocol for Bitcoin that depends on off-chain payment channels.

In his spare time he contributes to NBitcoin and co-authors the Bitcoin C# book.

Technology has become deeply engrained in our daily activities and this trend will continue. But technology is a tool and its worth lies in its ability to empower people, which is why user-centered design is so important.

Matt Zipkin joined the Bitcoin community in 2013, bought his first coins from Mt. Gox, and withdrew them to his own Bitcoin Core full node. In 2015 he produced the first Bitcoin Block Clock (a not-boring full node) and entered the cryptocurrency art scene, selling Bitcoin Block Clocks on OpenBazaar, the decentralized marketplace platform.

After a 15-year career in audio engineering, he joined Purse.io in 2018 and started a new full-time career developing Bitcoin software. As part of the Purse team, Matthew also contributed to the Handshake core protocol implementations hsd and hnsd.

Since the mainnet launch of the Handshake blockchain, he has been one of the top contributors to the Handshake ecosystem and community. Matthew also continues to contribute to the Bitcoin community, offering support for bcoin, reviewing pull requests to Bitcoin Core, and educating new users on Stack Exchange.

Dan Elitzer is Investor at IDEO coLab Ventures, Co-creating IDEO, and Founder of MIT Bitcoin Club.

Dan Elitzer is a member of IDEO Futures, a new ventures team focused on prototyping and incubating new businesses, with a personal focus on ventures utilizing bitcoin and blockchain technology. Prior to IDEO, Elitzer received his MBA at MIT Sloan, where he co-founded the MIT Bitcoin Club and MIT Bitcoin Project.

Christian is a Bitcoin enthusiast from the very beginning, back in 2009. He got involved in the, then small, community and starting to contribute. In 2012 he was offered a PhD Candidate position in the Distributed Computing Group at ETH Zurich. The goal of his research is to improve the understanding of the underlying consensus mechanisms and to enable the network to scale with the increasing demands. The result was the world’s first PhD dissertation about Bitcoin and the creation of a number of protocols including PeerCensus and Duplex Micropayment Channels.

Peter is an independent applied cryptography consultant - what the cool kids call "blockchain tech" - known for his research and educational work on better understanding and making use of "blockchain" technology, with a particular focus on scalability. He's also a long time contribution to Bitcoin Core, as well as maintainer of the python-bitcoinlib and OpenTimestamps projects. He brings to this field a very diverse background, including a fine arts degree, and a stint doing analog electronics design for a geophysics startup.
