Anant Chimmalgi

Anant Chimmalgi is Director Optics Engineering at Carbon. I have over 17 years of hands on Technical R&D, Systems Engineering and Product Development experience in the Optics, Lasers, additive manufacturing and Semiconductor Capital equipment industry. Currently, working at Carbon Inc, I head the optics engineering development for our various 3d printer programs and am managing the Printer Program for our partnership with Adidas for 3d printed midsole production. Previously, working at KLA Tencor, I led the Light Source development effort for the Wafer Inspection Group (WIG) within KLA Tencor Corporation and drove the Broadband Plasma (BBP) tool roadmap within WIG by providing differentiated laser plasma light source solutions to the past, current and future wafer inspection tools. Involved with various phases of Product Life Cycle (PLC) process from early feasibility analysis to actual release to production and ramp and 9 successful product generation launches at KLA Tencor. Prior to this my background was in Ultrafast pulsed lasers and their application in micro/nanoscale additive and subtractive manufacturing, nanoscale scanning probe microscopy and near-field nano-optics and heat transfer. TECHNICAL SKILLS AND RESEARCH INTERESTS: Additive Manufacturing, Broadband brightfield DUV/UV/VIS/NIR patterned wafer inspection, Laser sustained plasma light sources, semiconductor yield management, micro-/nanofabrication technologies, laser assisted precision micro/nano manufacturing, ultrafast pulsed lasers (femto-/pico-/nano- second timescales), nanoscale microscopy and metrology, near-field optics, fiber optics, micro/nano-scale heat transfer, Opto-mechanical system design & product development, Programming (Matlab, C, Python, LabVIEW, JMP), DUV/VUV Spectroscopy, imaging and photometry, subtractive and additive laser manufacturing.
