Yam is an experimental protocol building upon the most exciting innovations in programmable money and governance. Built by a team of DeFi natives, it seeks to create:

• an elastic supply to seek eventual price stability
• a governable treasury to further support stability
• fully on-chain governance to enable decentralized control and evolution from Day 1
• a fair distribution mechanism that incentivizes key community members to actively take the reins of governance

At its core, YAM is an elastic supply cryptocurrency, which expands and contracts its supply in response to market conditions, initially targeting 1 USD per YAM. This stability mechanism includes one key addition to existing elastic supply models such as Ampleforth: a portion of each supply expansion is used to buy yCurve (a high-yield USD-denominated stablecoin) and add it to the Yam treasury, which is controlled via Yam community governance.

We have built Yam to be a minimally viable monetary experiment, and at launch there will be zero value in the YAM token. After deployment, it is entirely dependent upon YAM holders to determine its value and future development. We have employed a fork of the Compound governance module, which will ensure all updates to the Yam protocol happen entirely on-chain through community voting.

backd, an Ethereum-based protocol that annihilates the aforementioned opportunity cost of depositing excess collateral by offering interest earning liquidation protection. The backd protocol can be used by any liquidity provider (LP) to earn interest on deposits via yield-farming strategies. Furthermore, LPs can register their funds as “back up collateral” for other protocols but farm yield and earn interest until funds are actually needed for collateral top ups.

Spectral Finance is on-chain credit scoring system and novel collateral subsidization model, to solving undercollateralized loans in DeFi without doxing a user’s identity while incorporating practical recourse measures.

Spectral Finance benefits from the first-mover advantage. They are aiming to tackle on-chain credit assessments and undercollateralized lending primarily on-chain and without doxing their users.

Spectral Finance is developing a — first-of-its-kind — credit risk oracle and loan underwriter that will serve as a middleware solution for the entire DeFi ecosystem, namely the credit markets. The credit ratings generated by Spectral will determine the amount of collateral required by a user.

Spectral’s credit ratings are determined by three factors:

On-chain financial history in DeFi
Credit delegation by other users
Off-chain data points (optional)

Empowered by Spectral, borrowers will now be able to purchase under-collateralized loans from leading DeFi protocols such as Aave or Compound. By doing so, Spectral leverages the robustness and supply-side network effects of the existing DeFi credit markets to optimize capital efficiency.

The Spectral protocol will be responsible for posting the collateral needed to service the over-collateralization ratio required by most DeFi lending protocols.

Spectral will manage its own liquidity pool. Liquidity providers are motivated to provide the financial capital needed to post collateral, in return for an interest rate that corresponds with a borrowers credit risk.

The Umbrella Protection Protocol is designed to enable Protection Providers to earn premium fees in return for staking funds to be paid out in the event of an exploit to Protection Seekers, who stake and pay a funding rate to earn protection in such an event.

There are two pool types in the protocol, one accessed by Protection Providers and one by Protection Seekers. The first pool type are the MetaPools, which are funded by Protection Providers and provide coverage on the second pool type, the Coverage Pools, which are accessed individually by the Protection Seekers.

Each MetaPool is made up of Coverage Pools, which provide protection on specific protocols or
contracts. An example of a MetaPool could be “Lending Protocols” while the Coverage Pools that
Seekers could access would be “Compound”, “Aave”, “Cream.” If any of those protocols experienced an exploit deemed valid by the arbiter of the MetaPool, a portion of the Provider’s stake would be used in a payout to Seekers who had staked for coverage in the affected protocol’s Coverage Pool.

The Dai Card application, a simple browser-hosted wallet, allows users to transact instantly, cheaply, and securely in Dai.

Similar to a physical debit card, users “top up” their Dai Card balance by depositing Eth (or Dai) directly to their Dai Card address, which gets instantly swapped into Dai and represented as USD in-channel. Users can withdraw their funds directly into Eth without needing to pay gas, dramatically simplifying the “cash out” experience.

Because the Dai Card runs on the Ethereum mainnet in payment channels, user funds are always self-custodied and can be exited regardless of the hub’s availability. Integrating Connext’s system into custom applications is also simple, requiring only a basic knowledge of Javascript.
