Codex is the leading decentralized asset registry for the $2 trillion arts & collectibles (“A&C”) ecosystem, which includes art, fine wine, collectible cars, antiques, decorative arts, coins, watches, jewelry, and more. Powered by the CodexCoin native token, the Codex Protocol is open source, allowing third-party players in the A&C ecosystem to build applications and utilize the registry. These applications, built with Codex’s partners, will make buying, selling, insurance, asset-backed loans and shipping and logistics easier for everyone.

Codex’s first application, Biddable, is a title-escrow system built on the Codex Protocol, which solves long-standing challenges in auctions: non-performing bidders, lack of privacy, and bidder access. It is already live with the Codex Consortium, a group of major stakeholders in the A&C space who facilitate over $6 Billion in sales to millions of bidders across tens of thousands of auctions from 5,000 auction houses in over 50 countries.

Codex Protocol

DADA is a social network for digital art where people interact with digital drawings founded by Beatriz Ramos. Currently, DADA offers a collection of 100 limited edition digital drawings (all made within the DADA platform via the provided drawing tools) which is available for purchase with Ether via the MetaMask wallet. Each digital artwork available for purchase is tokenized, with each token representing ownership over a copy of the drawing. DADA’s goal is to allow artists to have full control over their work and earn a universal basic income from their work.

Solos is a collaboration between painter Jeremiah Palecek and creative technologist Dennison Bertram.

Jeremiah makes traditional oil paintings of amorphous cybernetic entities. His work has been shown internationally and in major museums including Pompidou Metz, Musee de l'Elysee, and Schirn Kunsthalle Jeremiah is represented by the Giampietro Gallery.

Dennison Bertram is an artist and technologist who has worked for clients such as Louis Vuitton, Vogue, Versace and many others. Dennison is currently a co-founder at WithTally.com, previously founded Dapphero.io and in 2012 created the first Bitcoin Exchange in the Czech Republic, BuyBTC.cz

Edition 1: Saturnalia

Jeremiah’s work centers around the importance of the hand in painting, and he has often employed the use of various painting machines in the creation of his works which seek to remove the hand from the work.

His subjects are punctuated by shifting and borderless edges that allude to the separation between the artificial and the natural, where bits and pixels meet flesh and bone and create the modern human who exists in real as well as virtual space.

Saturnalia is a project created in the tradition of Surrealist Automatism which is a technique whereby the artist suppresses their conscious control of the making process, which then allows for the unconscious mind to have great importance in the resulting painting.

Saturnalia utilizes determinism and non-determinism to create a painting that is largely free of any sort of rational control. The painting itself is composed of a visual dataset taken from Jeremiah’s oeuvre which have been sliced into thousands of pieces. Using the identity of the collector (minter) as the primary input source of entropy, the slices are then recomposed into a new painting. Making it not only a collaboration between Dennison and Jeremiah, but the collector who is buying the painting as well.

Hashmasks introduces a combination of digital art and collectibles with a value hierarchy determined by both the creator and the consumer of the artwork. Unlike other collectibles, where the rarity of all traits is set out by the creators, Hashmasks have included two layers of scarcity: It provides a set of traits to provide general guidance to the consumer, but it has also created many implicit traits not accounted for. Above all, the control over the rarest of all traits – the name – is given to the full extent to the consumer.

Naming is commoditized via the Name Changing Token (NCT), which can be interchanged with other participants of the artwork. Each name is unique and can only belong to one NFT. Hashmasks is the first collectible where the value and rarity of each piece within the collection is not predetermined, but will change and adapt over many years before it takes its final form when the last NCT is burnt.

The Geo Web is a public good augmented reality metaverse. Publishers anchor digital content (image, video, audio, or 3D objects) to physical land using the Geo Web's open, ownerless protocols. Users engage with the content based on their location in the world with their smartphones, smartwatches, and smartglasses.

You can visualize the Geo Web as a persistent virtual layer covering Earth which is shared by all. It is divided into digital land parcels with a system of property rights designed to encourage productive utility, public goods funding, and egalitarian opportunity.

The Geo Web project is open source. The resulting network is controlled by its community rather than by a private, for-profit entity.

The founding of the Geo Web is inspired by the open and democratizing nature of the early World Wide Web. The World Wide Web of 2021 (i.e. Web 2.0) is dominated by centralized powers (Google, Facebook, Apple, Amazon, etc.) that all too often abuse their monopoly positions, suppress innovation, and sell users' attention.

We believe we can that we can start to change this dynamic with blockchain technology and carefully crafted mechanism design. The Geo Web is part of the Web 3.0 movement that aims to put users in control of their own data and participate in the value generated by shared networks/protocols.

The next era of computing is always-on and always-connected. "Being on the internet" will be a continuous state rather than a discrete action with the adoption of smartglasses, smartwatches, and embedded computers. The Geo Web can become the "World Wide Web for Physical World" in this era. It can support healthier relationships with our technology, permissionless economic opportunities, and yet untold creative endeavors.

This is a challenge in which 310 BTC is hidden in the picture shown above. Whoever finds the key to the coins may keep the Bitcoins. This is my first experiment and I will probably launch a few more challenges in the future.
