David Z. Morris is Chief Insights Columnist at CoinDesk. As CoinDesk's lead columnist, I cover a broad spectrum of issues from monetary policy and banking regulation to online privacy and security. I have previously written about technology, communication, transportation, cities, and identity for publications including Fortune, The Atlantic, Slate, Aeon, and Pacific Standard. Before becoming a journalist, I was an academic researcher focused on media, culture, and technology. My Ph.D. is from the University of Iowa, where I studied with John Durham Peters, Timothy Havens, and Kembrew McLeod. I have served as a research fellow at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and the University of South Florida.
