Emeris has a simple goal: providing access to a wide range of decentralized applications scattered around various blockchain ecosystems in a single, easy-to-use interface. As for the long term vision of Emeris, it revolves around one main concept: blockchain agnosticism. Interoperability is at the core of Emeris’ vision. At Interlay, we envision a future where permissioned and permissionless blockchains, regardless of design and purpose, can seamlessly connect and interact. Specifically, the open-source XCLAIM framework allows users to move assets across public/permissionless blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum in a trustless manner. Enterprises, on the other hand, can utilize XCLAIM to execute settlements across different permissioned ledgers, choosing from a palette of possible trust models based on use case and required security.

We are a team of PhD candidates from Imperial College London, who have been working and publishing on blockchain security, interoperability and game theoretic principles for the past 4-5 years. As such, at Interlay we take a research-driven approach: our product designs are bleeding-edge tech but are also backed by peer-reviewed, top-tier scientific publications.

Marble, an open-source bank on the Ethereum blockchain. The Marble smart contract owns Ether and tokens and makes its funds available to provably fair, low-risk protocols that require a lender.

The first of these integrations, a concept we’re calling flash lending, is deployed to the Ethereum mainnet in public beta.

Flash lending lets anyone borrow Ether and ERC20 tokens to take advantage of arbitrage opportunities on Ethereum. A smart contract can execute any arbitrary code after borrowing as long as the funds are returned to the bank within the scope of the same transaction. While simple in design, this allows developers to easily profit from inefficiencies in the prices of Ethereum assets without using their own capital.

For example, it’s possible to use flash lending to make arbitrage trades on decentralized exchanges. There are now several DEXs on Ethereum such as 0x, Bancor, and Kyber, which often have small price differences. With flash lending, a trader can borrow from the Marble bank, buy a token on one DEX, sell the token on another DEX for a higher price, repay the bank, and pocket the arbitrage profit all in a single atomic transaction.

Decentralized exchanges still account for only a very small percentage of overall trading volume of cryptoassets. Arbitrage trading creates liquidity and improves price discovery, which is an important step towards making decentralized exchanges more usable. Flash lending makes arbitrage trading more accessible by empowering traders to earn arbitrage profits without risking their own capital.

The smart contracts are deployed to the Ethereum mainnet in public beta. Visit our repo for a technical overview of our implementation. The bank currently has a balance of 2 Ether, which serves as a bug bounty. We’re excited to support a developer ecosystem, so if you are building a project that can leverage flash lending, please let us know! This might include an arbitrage bot, support for a new exchange (or for auctions, token sets, etc.), or something we haven’t even thought of yet.

We’re building Marble in a modular way, so that it can act as a generic on-chain lender in diverse use cases, such as margin trading and collateralized loans.

Curve is an exchange liquidity pool on Ethereum (like Uniswap) designed for (1) extremely efficient stablecoin trading (2) low risk, supplemental fee income for liquidity providers, without an opportunity cost.

Curve allows users (and smart contracts like 1inch) to trade between DAI and USDC with a bespoke low slippage, low fee algorithm designed specifically for stablecoins. Behind the scenes, the liquidity pool is supplied to the Compound protocol, where it generates income for liquidity providers.

Curve is currently in alpha - the codebase will be published on Github in the next 48 hours, and an external audit will begin in the near future. Please don’t supply your life savings, or assets you can’t afford to lose, to Curve, especially as a liquidity provider.

Using Curve as an exchange user should be significantly less risky, but this is not advice.

MakerDAO is “Decentralized Autonomous Organization” (“DAO”) operating on the Ethereum blockchain. At its core, MakerDAO permits the creation of a decentralized ‘stablecoin’ on Ethereum called Dai. A stablecoin is a token that seeks to eliminate price volatility, effectively tracking the price of a fiat currency like the US dollar. 1 Dai = 1 USD. In contrast to Dai which is a stablecoin that is suitable for payments and savings, MKR is a token that has a volatile price because of its unique supply mechanics and role on the Maker platform. MKR is a utility token, governance token and recapitalization resource of the Maker system.
