Jessi Baker is Founder & CEO at Provenance. Empowering great businesses to build brand value with supply chain and impact transparency. I am a designer and technologist. I founded provenance.org, a platform for product makers to share stories and data about the creation of great products. Provenance applies new technologies to help us better understand our material world, with the aim of powering a circular economy and radically increasing transparency in supply chains. Provenance was featured in the Daily Telegraph’s “top ten amazing science and technology innovations” due to being the first organisation connect physical things to the blockchain. As a firm Art and Science hybrid, I have a Masters in Engineering from Cambridge University and Design from the Royal College of Art. Across both the US and Europe, I've worked with many brands on technology and digital design strategy including Adidas, The Four Seasons, The Guggenheim Museum, Will.I.Am, British Airways and Louis Vuitton. I am an associate researcher at the Intel Institute for Sustainable Cities. I've almost completed a Computer Science PhD, but have recently paused it to pursue Provenance full time as the interest in the project was getting too much to ignore. I regularly speak at conferences and tech events on the subject of Future Technology and Social Impact. I try to encourage more women and girls into technology through my project schoolofhybrid.com. I also consult and give talks within businesses on the future of the Internet (blockchain, Internet of Things and open data) particularly in relation to product innovation, brand and supply chain.
