Ian Andrews is Chief Marketing Officer at Chainalaysis. He first invested in cryptocurrency when he learned about memecoins (to the moon!). Right now, he’s scaling the company’s marketing function and building a global team to spread the word about how great Chainalysis is. Ian’s worked with fast-growing startups and established tech brands like Opsware, Aster Data and VMWare. Previously, I ran Marketing for Tanzu, the modern apps portfolio at VMware. I led an outstanding team of 120 including product and technical marketers, brand and demand-gen experts, DevRel, analyst relations and comms. Before that I was CMO at Pivotal and helped to build that company from launch in 2013 to IPO in 2018 to acquisition by VMware in 2019 for $2.7 Billion. Earlier in my career I was part of the team at market defining startups including Opsware (acquired by HP 2007) and Aster Data (acquired by Terdata 2011). I have broad experience across all go-to-market functions having spent the first half of my career in sales and the second half in marketing. I enjoy working with early stage companies as they grow. In particular I have launched market defining new products like Cloud Foundry and have built world class teams. I'm passionate about technology and believe that modern marketers must possess both deep technical expertise and ownership of sales success.
