Joe Gerber

Joe Gerber is Managing Director, IDEO coLab. Exploring edge tech at IDEO coLab, creating new ventures with IDEO Futures and head nodding to early 90's hip hop. Prior to founding the CoLab, Joe helped start IDEO Futures, a new ventures team focused on prototyping and incubating new businesses for IDEO and its network of friends. Joe been active as an advisor and teacher in the entrepreneurial community, mentoring at Techstars, General Assembly, and the Harvard iLab and teaching courses on design thinking and venture design at NYU and SVA. Before IDEO, Joe was a Product Manager at Fidelity Investments, where he was responsible for developing and executing strategies for the next generation Fidelity.com. Joe began his career as a cancer biologist at biotechnology companies. Joe holds an MBA from MIT Sloan and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara. A Californian at heart, he loves to spend time outdoors and tends to use “dude” as a gender neutral term.
