Matt Storus

I'm a Product Design Lead at Coinbase. I create systematic, intuitive, and beautiful experiences for cryptocurrency products. My background is in Architecture. I studied at the Harvard GSD and have worked in various Architectural practices in the US, UK, and Canada. In 2012, I left Architecture to pursue my interest in digital product design and user experience. You can read more about how and why I made the leap in my interview with Archinect magazine. I joined Samsung as a UX designer and worked on a number of projects including apps, wearables, and IOT interfaces. I developed an intense fascination with cryptocurrencies, which prompted me to seek out and join 21.co as Lead Designer in 2015. Our mission is to onboard people to the crytpocurrency economy by giving them ways to earn rather than buy. We have launched several products including the Bitcoin Computer developer kit, 21 Beta software libraries, and ultimately the 21 Inbox where you can earn Bitcoin by completing microtasks. In 2018 we were acquired by Coinbase. It is an exciting time to be a designer in the blockchain / cryptocurrency space. As these projects are coming more into the mainstream, design is becoming a powerful tool for cryptocurrency projects to differentiate themselves and deliver meaningful products to users. Read my interview in Hacker Noon to learn more about how Design can play a role in the blockchain ecosystem.
