dYdX is a protocol for short selling and derivatives built on the Ethereum blockchain. dYdX provides decentralized peer-to-peer shorting, lending, and options trading of any Ethereum based token. dYdX enables a wide array of financial strategies:

Short sells allow investors to profit on price decreases, and can be used for speculation or to hedge existing positions;
Fully-collateralized low risk loans for short sellers allow token holders to earn interest fees;
Options can be used to hedge positions, manage volatility, increase leverage, and more.

dYdX is fully trustless, so you’ll never need to trust your coins to an exchange or anyone else. dYdX utilizes the 0x Protocol for decentralized exchange functionality, as well as its own fully collateralized peer-to-peer lending protocol. dYdX uses off-chain order books with on-chain settlement to enable efficient markets. Using 0x orders for token exchange allows dYdX derivatives to use existing 0x buy/sell liquidity.

Ubiq (UBQ) is an open-source, public, blockchain-based distributed computing platform featuring smart contract (scripting) functionality. The Ubiq network provides a stable blockchain to host an Ethereum Virtual Machine, integrating a decentralized Turing-complete virtual machine that allows for the creation of contracts and tokens. It provides a value token called "Ubiq (UBQ)", which was generated by transferring the value of a three-year old established token, Jumbucks (JBS), onto a blockchain with Ethereum functionality. Thus, it provides EVM functionality in a blockchain segregated technologically, politically, and conceptually from Ethereum or Ethereum Classic.

Since meeting in NYC in May, we have been working behind the scenes to adopt a single specification, laying the foundation for a fully interoperable ecosystem of State Channels applications.

This project builds on years of research & development by our teams, as each of us pushed forward different components of the tech stack. Uniting around a single specification is another critical milestone, with many benefits for the Ethereum ecosystem.

Our goal is to enable the best possible user and developer experience for State Channels. All wallets, clients, or applications that use the State Channels specification will be compatible by default.
