Sarah Meyohas

Sarah Meyohas is used to seeing around corners. As an artist, she uses the latest technology to address philosophical questions about the nature of value. This is the same perspective she brings to her investing. “I tend to be interested in the near future—what’s at the horizon,” she says. ‍ Sarah graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in finance before earning an M.F.A. in studio art from Yale. In her practice she uses crypto-currency, the public markets, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and automation as artistic mediums to probe the intersection of finance, technology, and art. In 2014 she created “Bitchcoin,” for which she forked bitcoin and sold tokens as art. It was among the earliest artworks on the blockchain. Her next project, “Stock Performance,” used the stock market itself as a medium to make paintings. Sarah’s other notable works, including “Cloud of Petals” and “Dawn Chorus” continued her prescient engagement with technology. “As both an artist and investor, it’s all about your point of view,” she says. As an investor, Sarah doesn’t shy away from complexity. She views her role as being a collaborator and thought partner to founders who are working at the edge of what can be built. “Those ideas that at first just seem like a hunch—the ones that are hard to articulate because there are no current mental models for them—those are the ones I like,” she says. “They’re delicate, and need to be nurtured. There are fits and starts to creation, and so much can change on the way. I love that process.”
