We often are asked where the name Maveron came from. It’s the combination of Maverick and Vision. How did those two things become the words we wanted to reflect in our name? Well, Samuel Augustus Maverick was a 19th-century pioneer in old Texas. After winning 300 head of cattle in a poker game, he defied prairie tradition and, out of humaneness, refused to brand his cattle. It was a bold move—and it took vision. The result: Every steer without a brand was called a “maverick” and the word entered the lexicon. At Maveron, we prize the ability to look beyond convention. It’s branded into our name. Our companies marry disruptive tech with soulful, beloved brands into an unstoppable and unforgettable consumer experience. Because middlemen are so 20th century.
